Baptized in Holy Spirit and Fire

[Jesus] will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
Matthew 3:11-12; Luke 3:16-17.

Jesus is Baptized in Fire

I have come to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled!   But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!
Luke 12:49-50; see Matthew 10:34.

The cup that I drink you shall drink; and you shall be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized.
Mark 10:39; see 14:36.

[God sent] His own Son in the likeness of the flesh of sin and concerning sin, He condemned sin in the flesh.
Romans 8:3.

For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings.
Hebrews 2:10; see 5:7-8.

Disciples Baptized in Fire

Through many tribulations must we enter the kingdom of God.
Acts 14:22

The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
Romans 8:16-17.

And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance;   and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope;   and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Romans 5:3-5.

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,    knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.    And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-3.

In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,    so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 1:6-7

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;    but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.   If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.    Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler;    but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.    For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
1 Peter 4:12-17.

Burnt Offerings: Sacrificial Offerings by Fire

As living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:5

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service of worship.
Romans 12:2.

We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat.   For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate.   So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach.
Hebrews 13:10-13.
